the inevitable “tips for writers” list
Penfold’s list of super awesome writing tips for writers and anyone else who writes:
- keep writing
- read your writing aloud and listen to it
- cutting something is almost always the better option, even people
- read Elements of Style every so often
- don’t let the truth get in the way of a good story
- pay attention to your wife’s edits; she’s smarter than you and probably a better writer, too
- read like a demon and talk about what you’re reading with other demons
- every jackass has a “tips for writers” list, and none of them really matter
